Pokhara, Oct. 16 – Young entrepreneur Kiran KC from Pokhara has been elected as a Central Committee member at the 15th General Convention of the Nepali Congress. Entering the central committee election for the first time, KC was warmly welcomed into politics on his first attempt, receiving a significant number of votes from delegates across the country in the open category.
In the election for 45 open-category positions, 89 candidates competed. Popular with delegates, KC was elected in 28th place, securing 2,774 votes.
About Kiran KC
Kiran was elected as a General Convention delegate from Kaski Constituency 2 by popular vote. He did not seek a high-level post or leadership role all at once. He entered the race for Central Committee membership at the 15th General Convention with a plan to increase his role in future politics moving from a popular delegate vote to central membership and succeeded.
As director of KC Group of Companies, KC manages the entire business group under one umbrella. In the financial sector, he serves as a director at Sun Nepal Life Insurance Limited and is a promoter of Machhapuchchhre Bank Limited and United Ajod Insurance Company Nepal Limited.
In the construction and hospitality sectors, KC serves as a director at KC Construction Firm and KC Construction Pvt. Ltd. (a Class A construction company in Nepal), as well as Jai Bhadrakali Developers Company Pvt. Ltd. He is also currently a leader in the hydropower sector.
He is also a director at Suryotthan Luxurious Apartments, Pokhara Homes Pvt. Ltd., and Jai Bhadrakali Hoteliers Pvt. Ltd. In education and fitness, he is chairman of Kalika Multiple Campus, located in Kajipokhari, Pokhara, and is affiliated with the Pokhara School of Tourism and Hospitality Management.
Kiran KC and the KC Group’s investment and leadership are at the forefront of hydropower development. The KC Group is currently making major strides in the sector.
Having served as a director at Sikles Hydropower Limited (13 MW) since 2015 (2072 BS) and as chairman since 2025 (2082 BS), Kiran currently leads Ampic Energy Pvt. Ltd. (132 MW), Upper Marsyangdi Hydropower Company Pvt. Ltd. (102 MW), and Subhankhit Hydropower Pvt. Ltd. (8 MW). He is currently guiding more than 10 small and large hydropower projects.
Having been active in business and the social sector for a long time, KC has closely observed society’s real problems, citizens’ distress, and shortcomings in state policies. He says he actively entered Nepali Congress politics with the belief that, rather than criticizing government policies and investment hurdles from the outside, one should address them by participating directly at the policy-making level.
Having never backed down from pursuing success in business, KC says he has now entered the political arena. He says his political journey is primarily driven by a desire to contribute to the country’s long-term prosperity, create a business-friendly environment, and generate employment opportunities for young people in the country.
