Pokhara: Young entrepreneur Kiran KC, who has established himself in business, education, and social service, has entered active politics. His political journey formally began with his candidacy for Central General Convention Representative (Open) from Kaski Constituency No. 2 at the 15th General Convention of the Nepali Congress.

The second son of the late renowned industrialist and social worker Surya Bahadur KC, Kiran views politics in the Nepali Congress not merely as a means of continuing his family’s social and public legacy, but also as an effort to establish himself in public life through his own experience and identity.

Although the KC family has a long-standing presence in Pokhara’s industrial, educational, and social sectors, Kiran has been working to establish his own role in entrepreneurship, education, and social service beyond his family name.

Active in Business and Public Roles

Kiran KC is currently the chairperson of the Board of Directors of Kalika Multiple Campus. Under his leadership, the campus has been advancing educational and physical infrastructure development. He has played an active role in the institution’s growth, continuing the contributions of his late father, Surya Bahadur KC, who was also the campus’s founding chairperson.

Under KC’s leadership, infrastructure development projects at the campus have also progressed. According to publicly released information, a library building constructed with the support of the KC family, at a cost of approximately Rs. 32.6 million, was recently handed over to the campus.

KC believes education should not be limited to obtaining degrees but should also be connected to skills, production, and employment. He is also active in entrepreneurship and is involved in businesses including hydropower and apartments.

Following His Father’s Footsteps While Forging His Own Political Path

The late Surya Bahadur KC was known in Pokhara as an industrialist, philanthropist, and educationist. He was the founding chairperson of Kalika Multiple Campus, and the institution continues to recognize his contributions. A bust of him has also been installed on the campus premises.

Having closely observed his father’s social relationships, approach to industry and business, and experience in public life, Kiran is now seeking to connect that experience with a political role.

His entry into politics can be viewed not only as a continuation of his family’s legacy but also as an attempt to connect the experience he has gained in business, education, and the social sector with public policy, party organization, and political engagement.

Not Just Business, but Also Contribution to Society

With the aim of remaining active in social service and politics alongside his professional career, KC has entered the competition to become a General Convention Representative of the Nepali Congress.

His stated priorities include greater political participation by young people, the promotion of entrepreneurship, quality education, organizational unity, and cooperation between generations. The participation of the younger generation has also been emphasized at the 15th General Convention of the Nepali Congress.

A New Political Chapter for the KC Family Legacy

Coming from the established KC family of Pokhara’s business and industrial sector, Kiran’s entry into politics has attracted interest in business and social circles.

However, for Kiran, an important challenge will be transforming his family legacy into a political identity of his own through his ideas, working style, and public contributions. By contesting to become a General Convention Representative from Kaski Constituency No. 2 at the 15th General Convention of the Nepali Congress, Kiran is seeking to establish his political foundation through this journey.

The entry into politics of a young figure already established in business, active in education, and known in social circles has further strengthened discussions about the presence of a new generation in the Kaski chapter of the Nepali Congress.

For Kiran, the challenge now extends beyond the competition to become a General Convention Representative. An important aspect of his political journey will also be how he connects the social and public legacy left by his father, Surya Bahadur KC, with the ideas, style, and activism of his own generation.
