Global IME Bank Pledges NPR 5 Crore to Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund

Kathmandu. Global IME Bank Limited has announced financial assistance of NPR 5 crore to the ‘Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund’ for the search, rescue, immediate relief, and long-term rehabilitation of citizens affected by the severe flash flood in the Bhote Koshi River.

The devastating flood in the Bhote Koshi River has caused extensive erosion and inundation in riverine areas including Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, and Chitwan, resulting in significant human and physical damage. The strong current of the river has caused untimely deaths of hundreds of citizens, many have gone missing, and hundreds of families have been displaced, becoming homeless. Furthermore, the river has washed away local settlements, bridges, road networks, and hydropower projects, causing unprecedented destruction.

Expressing heartfelt condolences to the citizens who lost their lives in the flood and landslides, and deep sympathy to the bereaved families, the bank stated that it has provided the said assistance under its corporate social responsibility to support the search for the missing, treatment of the injured, arrangement of immediate food and shelter for the affected, and long-term reconstruction of damaged structures.

Previously, the bank has continuously provided financial, physical, and humanitarian assistance at the forefront during disasters such as severe floods, landslides, inundations, earthquakes, and epidemics in various parts of the country.
