JHAPA । Ganesh Basnet, the Central President of Press Chautari Nepal, has stated that there is a ploy to weaken nationalism by attacking self-respecting and nationalist individuals. He also highlighted that such efforts are being carried out through social media platforms.
While addressing a conference during the district conventions of Press Chautari Jhapa, the home district of UML Chairperson and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli—remarked that foreign agents are active in undermining the country.
Emphasizing the need for journalists associated with Press Chautari Nepal to rise powerfully against the encirclement of patriots, Basnet stated: “The fight for self-respect is not easy. The struggles KP Oli has faced are evident in the consequences he is enduring. Why are UML and KP Oli under attack today? We must understand this.”
He added, “The attack is due to the raising of the flag of nationalism. It happened because Nepal’s Constitution was drafted for the benefit of Nepalis. Foreign agents are thriving, and this battle has begun through social media. Self-respecting Nepalis must recognize that this is not just an attack on KP Oli but on Nepalis themselves. We must defeat this attack. Members of Press Chautari should engage in this battle on social media, but we must fight in a civilized manner.”
Chairman Basnet stressed the need to stand as a protective shield as Prime Minister Oli advances the national roadmap for “Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepalis.”
“In Jhapa, everything thrives in the name of KP Oli. Press Chautari is the only organization that does not misuse or defame KP Oli’s name,” he said.
He also noted that Press Chautari Nepal is an organization with a glorious history of representing working journalists and called for everyone to contribute to uniting the organization. He mentioned that those working without harming the organization would get opportunities and assured that leadership would be selected through consensus nationwide.
Basnet firmly stated that anarchism is not acceptable within the organization, and there would be no pardon for those who harm it. He also mentioned that the collaboration with Press Union would continue for a long time.
