Today marks the first Monday of the month of Shrawan.
Devotees across the country have thronged Shiva temples to offer prayers on this sacred day observed by followers of the Hindu religion. In Pokhara’s Gaighat area as well, a large number of worshippers have gathered.
Significant crowds have been seen at temples such as the Kedareswor Mahadevmani Temple and the Pumdikot Shiva Temple, where people have come to perform rituals and worship.
Especially during the month of Shrawan, it is a tradition to worship Lord Shiva and sing his praises. Devotees are seen offering cow milk and belpatra (sacred leaves) at nearby ponds and rivers.
Dressed in saffron attire and barefoot, devotees traditionally fetch water from Gaighat and offer it to the Shiva Lingam at the Kedareswor Temple located in Baidam.
